Day 1: Arriving to Lima
Arrive to the airport Jorge Chavez where a representative from Kontiki Tours will pick you up and take you to the hotel, where he/she will explain the whole itinerary.
Night in Lima
Day 2: Fly to Cusco and sacred valley
After the breakfast in the hotel, you will be picked up to go to the Jorge Chavez airport to take your flight to Cusco.
Cusco is at 3399 meters high (11 150 feet) which will be the highest altitude in this tour, we recommend taking some pills to help you with this (we can buy the pills for you). We will also prepare a bottle of oxygen for people that need it.
Our representative will pick you at the airport and take you to the Sun temple (Korikancha) which is one of the most important temples of the Inca empire and to the 12 angles rock.
Then we will take you to Urubamba, in the way we will visit Sacsayhuaman (Inca fortress), Qenko (Inca adoratory) and Puca Pucara (one of the Inca empire administrative and military centre of the Inca empire).
The tour will end when we arrive to the hotel in Urubamba.
Night in Urubamba
Day 3: Pisaq, Ollantaytambo
After breakfast we will visit Sacred Valley where you will be able to appreciate the techniques of the Incas when they made their ceramics in the artisanal market of Pisac.
Then we will have lunch in a local restaurant to continue our trip to Ollantaytambo ruins, where you will appreciate the Incan buildings, the great Incan architecture in all their glory. These ruins worked as a military, agriculture and administrative centre for the Incas.
In the night you will take the train to the ancient lost city of the Incas (Machuppichu) the highlight of the trip. A personal from the hotel will pick usfrom the station and escort us to the hotel.
Night in Aguas Calientes (Machuppichu)
Day 4: Machuppichu, Aguas Calientes
In the morning after breakfast we will take you from your hotel to take the bus to Machuppichu. In this magnificent city you will be able to visit: the temple of the condor, the temple of water, the temple of the three windows, the main plaza, etc. after this you will be able to climb Huaynapicchu (reservation with months of anticipation as the tickets are limited)
After the Machuppichu visit you will have free time to enjoy lunch in a typic restaurant, we recommend eat guinea pig or alpaca meat.
We also recommend relaxing at the thermal water near the hotel.
In the afternoon we will take you to the train station of Aguas Calientes to take your train back to Ollantaytambo and then we will take you to your hotel in Cusco.
Night in Cusco
Day 5: Cusco – Puno “La Ruta del Sol” (“the sun route”)
After breakfast we will take you to the bus station of Cusco to take your bus to the city of Puno, in the way you will be able to visit different Andean places with an ancient history as: The Sistine chapel of America or Sndahuaylillas Chapel, the imponent temple in honour of the god Wiracocha, the famous “Paso de la raya” (boundary limit between Cusco and Puno) where you will be able to enjoy the view of the Chimboya mountain and the lithic museum of the Pukara culture.
At noon you will be able to enjoy a delicious typic Peruvian lunch.
And when we arrive to Puno, we will take you to your hotel.
Night in Puno
Day 6: Puno, Uros, Taquile
After breakfast we will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the Pier to take the boat that will take you to the flouting island of the Uros.
The Uros people have lived in these flouting islands for hundred of years, the Uros people knew how extract this abundant Totora reed to put them together and form little flouting islands that will be attached later.
Even though the world is rapidly changing and more people decide to live in the city the Uros people has continued with their tradition of living and making this flouting islands they are know as the water clan for this reason.
The work they do is not easy as they have to change the Totora from time to time, having to remake their houses, boats and land as all of them are from Totora that has to be changed every certain period.
After visiting the fluting island of Uros we will depart in the same boat we took to Taquile, in Taquile we will have a typic lunch from the region and special tea from the area.
After lunch we will visit more of the island of Taquile, we will be able to see stunning view of the Titikaka lake and take great picture.
Taquile is also well know for their handmade art (textiles, pottery, etc). contrary to many other cultures in Taquile the men are the ones that do the textiles, in order to marry and have a good status in the community they have to show how well they can do their textiles. You will see many of them doing their textiles in the way and will be able to buy some of them.
After visiting Taquile we will take again the boat to go back to Puno pier, in the pier we will be waiting for you to take you to your hotel and you will have the afternoon free.
Night in Puno
Day 7: Sillustani
In the morning after breakfast we will take you from the hotel to the famous Chullpas of Sillustani, one of the biggest necropolises of the world.
Surrounded by a stunning view you will find the Chullpas in the middle, the Chullpas are a kind of tower made of stone, constructed by Collas and Incas to bury their dead.
The biggest and most imposing towers were made by the most important chiefs and priests. The civilizations of the area thought that a cemetery was a place of rest and rebirth that is why they choose a beautiful place to build their cemetery and this places when build were considered sacred places.
This is a magic place to take great pictures, you will enjoy here the view of the mountains and the small lake Umayo.
After the visit we will take you to the airport to take your flight to Lima.
We will pick you from the airport and take you to your hotel in Lima.
Night in Lima
Day 8: Lima (Optional City Tour)
Today you will choose between a city Tour of Lima (extra payment of 70 american dollars) or free time to discover the city on your own.
Optional city Tour itinerary:
After taking breakfast at the hotel, you will meet with the guide that will make the tour in Lima that will include the modern part of Lima and the colonial Lima. The modern Lima will include Barranco and Miraflores part of the city where the famous Boleros where made. You will be able to appreciate how Lima is developing and how stylish is becoming in that part of the city.
Later you will visit the colonial Lima (Centro de Lima) that was declared UNESCO universal patrimony. In Centro de Lima you will be able to see many colonial churches that have a unique architecture and history, you will also be able to see the main government agencies of the Republic of Peru as congress and the president palace.
After visiting these two places we will go to a local restaurant where you will be able to eat the famous Cebiche or other typic Peruvian dish. The rest of the afternoon will be free for you to do as you wish. The guide will give some recommendation on what to do and where to eat.
we will have a farewell dinner at night with all the group and the Tour manager.
Night in Lima
Day 9: Return to home country
We will pick you up in the morning to take you to the airport of Lima to take your flight to your home country.
End of our services
Reservation
- To make your reservation you should pay 10% of the cost of the package to separate your space (non-refundable, this money could be used in another tour you choose if you cancelled a tour, only could be used one time)
- You need to pay 50% of the cost of the package 60 days before the trip starts and another 40 % of the cost of the package 30 days before the trip starts.
- When you apply for one package the agency will contact you in 48 hours with the final price of the package
- The payment should be to our back accounts
- The passenger to be able to do a reservation, he/she should give the following information:
- Full name
- Passport number
- Birthdate
- Expiration date of passport
- Nationality
- Age
- Sex
- Also, any physical condition, allergies, diseases and preference of food.
Politics about children
In all our programs unless stated, the maximum age of a child is 11 years old, older children than 12 years old are considered as adults and will have same tariff as an adult
Package cancellation:
All our passengers are subject to the charge for cancelation and/or change of date for the solicited service.
- If the cancelation is made 60 days before the trip starts, we will change you 50 % of the paid price
- If the cancelation is 45 days before the trip starts, we will change 60 % of the paid price
- We can not change a name of one passage with another passenger name, can not transfer your package to another person
- If you have reserved your package with: hotel, flight, bus and train, you will have to follow the conditions and rules of those businesses. This rule also is applicable to touristic places as Machupicchu or Inka trail.
No Show
All passenger that is not present on a programmed service and reserved, without cancellation or acceptance from our part will be considered a No Show, and we will be charged 100% of the price of the package without refund or complains.
Complementary
We recommend to all our customer to buy an accident insurance or/and travel insurance. We do not provide accident or travel insurance and this is also not included in our costs.
If a passenger or member of the group becomes ills or a mishap happen, we will transport the passenger to the nearest clinic to receive the due attention.
In the case of accidents or when an evacuation is necessary, we will organize the logistics of rescue and evacuation, in both cases the costs will be assumed by the client or their insurance.
**we recommend to other businesses or tour operators verify if the passenger we operate for you have travel insurance.
Service control
At the end of the trip the passengers can fill a formulary of evaluation of the services. This will let us know the comments of our services and will serve as a way to improve.
